The second day of the NHH Junior Hunt was held at our  kennel country. The hounds were brought out and a much faster pace was anticipated. Huntsman David Kruger, whipper-ins MFH Dave K, Breanna O, Nancy E led a mounted group of 34 riders, including 8 junior riders.

We had three flights and first flight had their first coop challenge them with a big downhill landing. My horse launched himself while impersonating Pegasus-I lost my right rein, was somewhat out of control as I flew by the huntsman. A BIG no-no. I will have to pay the fine: a biggy size Snickers bar.

Thank goodness Brit Vegas ignored my advise that the coop was easy and all the junior riders would be just fine…….She saved them all from certain splats.

Huntsman Dave and Whipper-in Bre O have been visiting land owners and clearing coops making the kennel country ready for all the riders to enjoy riding across the fields and jumping coops.

It was a top ten day as far as the weather, the footing, the jumping, the whoopee wagon-not so much when factoring in hunting conditions. Too hot, too windy, to dry.

Still, a fun day for everyone and a great feast was provided after wards by Stephanie Caston. Stuffed pasta shells, two different salads, bread and caramel delights for dessert
